Huston Township Sewer Joint Authority Receives $186,000 Grant from the EPA

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded a $186,000 grant to the Huston Township Sewer Authority, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania to help fund a sewage collection system that will convey wastewater to a treatment plant planned for construction at the site of an abandoned acid-mine drainage research station in Hollywood, Pa.

The wastewater treatment facility will serve residents in the villages of Penfield, Mill Run, Hollywood and Tyler who have relied on on-lot systems for wastewater disposal. EPA’s grant will cover 55 percent of the $338,182 cost for the first segment of the collection system, which will serve the Penfield area.

“It’s always encouraging to see construction projects like this that will improve the environment and the overall living conditions for the residents,” said Bradley Campbell, the regional administrator for the mid-Atlantic region.

The Rural Utilities Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be the lead agency for the EPA grant, since it is funding the major portion of the $3 million project for the overall wastewater treatment facility.
