(Washington, D.C. - December 16, 2004) EPA officials will sign letters to the governors designating areas of states that do or do not attain new health standards for fine particulate matter, also known as PM2.5. Fine particles are scientifically linked to a variety of serious health problems. This is the nation’s first air quality standard for this pollutant.
