REGION 7 ADMINISTRATOR TO ANNOUNCE PROPOSED
2006 FUNDING FOR NATIONAL BROWNFIELDS PROGRAM
Jim Gulliford, administrator for EPA Region 7, will announce President Bush’s 2006 budget request for the national Brownfields Program at a St. Louis event Friday. Rodney Crim, executive director of the St. Louis Development Corp., will host the event and discuss the value of brownfields redevelopment for the community.
The event will be at The Georgian Condominiums, a new development built on a former brownfield site in the old City Hospital complex. Condominium developer Chris Goodson will speak about the importance of the Brownfields Program in the development of the project. Other brownfields partners will also attend.
St. Louis illustrates the importance of Brownfields funding. The city has dozens of brownfields properties in its inventory and is focusing on the assessment, cleanup, and redevelopment of these properties as the keystone to its economic revitalization.
