Denver -- The Environmental Protection Agency has the responsibility to fully assess the environmental impacts of proposed federal projects, like the Legacy Parkway.

The Legacy Parkway project is a proposed 14-mile, four-lane, limited-access highway that would stretch from Interstate 215 in North Salt Lake to US 89 and Interstate 15 in Farmington. The road is planned to provide capacity to relieve traffic congestion in Utah's Salt Lake Valley. EPA has participated as a Cooperating Agency on the Legacy Parkway project since 1999. This collaborative process has resulted in a better understanding and resolution of potential environmental impacts associated with the project.

EPA has reviewed the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement submitted in December 2004 for the Legacy Parkway by the Federal Highway Administration and the Army Corps of Engineers.

EPA's letter on the DSEIS is posted at https://www.epa.gov/Region8/compliance/nepa/nepadocs/comments.html
