SUPERFUND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
GRANTS REQUIREMENTS REVISED
GRANTS REQUIREMENTS REVISED
Revisions to the Technical Assistance Grants (TAGs) requirements will make grant money more readily available to local community groups affected by Superfund sites. The final rule, published October 2 in the Federal Register, will promote effective public participation in the Superfund cleanup process. Specific changes in the rule allow for: advance payments up to $5,000 to new recipients; less burdensome application requirements; elimination of the 20 percent cap on administrative expenses; reduction in reporting requirements; easing of requirements necessary for receiving a waiver to the 20 percent matching funds requirement; replacement of the three-year funding period requirement with a funding period tailored to site-specific needs; and clarification of the technical advisor qualifications for the hiring of advisors with expertise in relocation, redevelopment and health issues. For a copy of the Federal Register Notice visit EPA’s web page at: https://www.epa.gov/fedrgstr/ and choose October 2. For further information, call the Superfund Hotline at 1-800-424-9346 or 703-412-9810.
