U.S. EPA GIVES $200,000 TO HELP REVITALIZE CARSON INDUSTRIAL AREA

LOS ANGELES -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will present a $200,000 grant to the City of Carson at a city council presentation on Tuesday, October 5 at 6:00 p.m. Carson plans to use the grant to inventory its brownfields properties, conduct environmental assessments, develop cleanup plans for the sites and perform community outreach.
The purpose of the brownfields program is to assist communities in redeveloping underutilised land in the inner-city and to curb urban sprawl. The City of Carson is a major center for transportation, manufacturing and distribution.
