CHICAGO (Oct. 17, 2006) - Officials from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5, Indiana Department of Environmental Management and Kokomo, Ind., will provide an update on new developments at the Continental Steel Superfund site, Thurs., Oct. 19, 10:30 a.m.
Regional Superfund Director Richard Karl, IDEM Commissioner Thomas Easterly and Kokomo Mayor Matt McKillip will be on hand at the former Continental Steel main plant parking lot, on the north side of Markland Ave. between U.S. 31 and South Park Ave.
In the event of poor weather, the briefing will be held at City Hall, 100 S. Union St.
To reach the site: From U.S. 31, turn west onto Markland Ave. and travel through the intersections of Home Ave., Washington St. and Webster St. Look for a CVS drugstore on the right. Just beyond CVS, look for a series of large industrial buildings close to the road and a large unfenced parking lot. Turn right into the parking lot.
