PHILADELPHIA - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded a $629,100 grant to the Cowen Public Service District in Webster County, W. Va. that will provide water and sewer service to the Webster County Industrial Park.
The project will be an extension of the drinking water and wastewater treatment and collection system owned by the Cowen Public Service District.
“With this funding, the tenants of the industrial park will have access to a safe, potable water system and an environmentally safe way to dispose and treat wastewater from their businesses,” said Donald S. Welsh, regional administrator for EPA’s mid-Atlantic region.
Without the new systems, tenants would have no access to drinking water and sewage from the park would have to be treated with septic tanks, which do not work adequately in the area.
The grant will pay for 100 percent of the estimated $629,100 project cost.
