The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced the completion of a Five-Year Review at the Hipps Road Landfill Superfund site in Jacksonville Heights, Duval County, Florida. The Review was conducted to ensure that the cleanup actions taken at the site remain protective of human health and the environment. The Review, the second to be conducted at the site, focused on the integrity of the landfill cap. The results of the review show that the remedy remains protective of human health and the environment.
During the review, representatives from EPA and Waste Control of Florida, Inc. examined Operation and Maintenance Reports, monitoring data and conducted a site inspection. A copy of the report of findings, along with recommendations for further action, is available for review at the Webb Wisconnett Branch of the Jacksonville Public Library, 6686 103rd Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32210. The Hipps Road Landfill Superfund site is located at the Southwest corner of Hipps Road and Exline Road in Jacksonville Heights. |
