NEW EPA WEB SITE HELPS PROFESSIONALS SEE TOTAL ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECT

PHILADELPHIA - The mid-Atlantic Office of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is pleased to announce a new web site aimed at environmental professionals.  

The EPA Region III Resources for Cumulative Effects Assessment site is a comprehensive collection of national and international web sites dedicated to cumulative effects analysis, an aspect of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969.  The site provides links to introductory material, recent research, case studies, and regulatory developments on assessing cumulative impacts.  These links are presented in logically arranged categories.  

This site was developed to assist agencies that are required to prepare environmental assessments and environmental impact statements in accordance with NEPA.  Researchers, educators, and individuals who review wetland and waterway permit applications will also benefit from the site.  

Cumulative effects refer to accrued human-induced changes on the environment over time.  Cumulative impacts can result from individually minor but collectively significant actions which take place over a period of time.
