Pasadena’s Peggy Stewart honored with President’s Volunteer Service Award

Volunteer promotes Arroyo Seco watershed restoration and reforestation
“Today we honor Peggy Stewart for answering President Bush's call to serve a cause greater than herself,” said EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson. “Dedicated volunteers like Peggy Stewart are inspiring others to join them in delivering America a brighter, healthier future."
“The Garden Club of America has always stood by its mission of nature conservation, which is present today in our efforts with the Arroyo Seco, and in our volunteer ethic, which exemplifies the importance of volunteerism in the U.S.,” said Peggy Stewart.
Stewart has over 35 years of active volunteer service in the community and more than 20 years serving the Pasadena Garden Club on various committees including the Conservation Committee of the Garden Club of America.
During his travels across the country, Administrator Johnson meets with individuals like Peggy Stewart who are answering the call to volunteer service, environmental education and pollution prevention.
