EPA Sets Public Meetings on Border XXI

To help increase citizens' participation in the continuing development of the Border XXI Program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6 has scheduled four meetings in February. Border XXI is a joint effort by the United States and Mexico to improve the environment and protect the public health and natural resources in the border area.
Workgroups will present their Border XXI 1997 Implementation Plans and 1996 Accomplishments Reports. Groups focusing on air and pollution prevention w ill make presentations in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas, while workgroups dealing with hazardous and solid waste and planning for emergencies will present their reports in Laredo and Eagle Pass, Texas. Question and answer periods will follow the presentations.
