U.S. EPA OFFERS INDOOR AIR POLLUTION COURSE IN TUCSON JUNE 13-15

San Francisco-- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(U.S. EPA) today announced it will sponsor a 2-1/2-day
"Orientation to Indoor Air Quality" course in Tucson on June 13-
15, 1995. The course provides crucial information about indoor
air pollution sources and their health effects; how buildings
operate; how to identify indoor air quality hazard levels; and
recommended solutions.

     The course will give participants a comprehensive
introduction and analysis of indoor air pollution and how it can
be prevented.  Originally developed for public health officials,
the course was recently revised to meet the needs of building
managers. The course will also benefit private consultants,
architects, school administrators and facility managers, risk
managers, health and safety personnel, and anyone planning to
teach others about indoor air pollution.

     The distinguished teaching staff is headed by Francis J.
"Bud" Offermann, President of Indoor Environmental Engineering.
He will be joined by Dr. Harriet Ammann, Senior Toxicologist with
the Washington State Office of Toxic Substances, and Dr. Kenneth
Cohen, Associate Industrial Hygienist with the California
Occupational Health and Safety Administration's High Hazard Unit.
Barbara Spark, U.S. EPA's Regional Indoor Air Coordinator, will
speak on government's role in preventing indoor air pollution.

     Included in the course fee are detailed instructional
materials, including the Course Manual, "Introduction to Indoor
Air Quality: A Self-Paced Learning Module"; the "Reference
Manual"; and "Building Air Quality: A Guide for Building Owners
and Facility Managers."

     The course is being presented by the Western Regional Radon
Training Center (WRRTC), with partial funding from EPA. The
course fee is $195. Public employees are eligible for a special
