CHESAPEAKE BAY EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING IN HARRISBURG, PA.
EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner will chair the annual meeting of the Chesapeake Bay Executive Council Meeting in Harrisburg, Pa. on Thursday, Oct. 10. At 1:30 p.m., Browner will discuss plans to reduce nitrogen pollution, protect the rivers that lead into the Bay from agricultural runoff and expand communities' right to know about pollution in the Chesapeake Bay.
Following her remarks, Browner will join other Council members in signing two agreements that will protect the Bay's tributaries from agricultural runoff and increase local participation in Bay cleanup and protection efforts. At 3 p.m., Browner and other Council participants will hold a press availability.
The Chesapeake Bay Executive Council meets annually to review the progress over the past year in protecting and restoring the Chesapeake Bay and future plans for continuing that progress. The Executive Council is the governing body of the Chesapeake Bay program and its members include the EPA Administrator, the Governors of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia and the Mayor of the District of Columbia.
