EPA ADMINISTRATOR CAROL M. BROWNER TO ANNOUNCE
EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner today will announce the selection of twelve new Brownfields Showcase Communities. These Showcase Communities will receive up to $400,000 each in targeted financial, technical and staff support for their ongoing efforts to cleanup brownfields -- abandoned, lightly contaminated properties -- and return them to viable community use. Under the Clinton-Gore Administration hundreds of communities across the country have received over $140 million in grants for the cleanup of brownfields. The details of the event are:
