CHICAGO (March 1, 2005) — U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded a $24,000 grant to the Alliance for Healthy Homes to educate Cleveland’s elderly about indoor environmental health hazards.
Nineteen organizations nationwide will share almost $500,000 in EPA Aging Initiative grants. The recipients include state and local health and environmental offices, regional councils of governments, universities and community colleges, a community foundation, and aging-related non-profit groups.
The Cleveland project will provide outreach and training on respiratory health for low-income older adults. The curriculum will emphasize resources and services available to older adults to reduce or eliminate health threats in the home.
