ALTOONA, Pa. - The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs are sponsoring workshops throughout Pennsylvania to interest citizens in helping their community go green.
“Establishing a Green Community” will be held in Blair County from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, at the Holiday Inn , 2915 Pleasant Valley Blvd. in Altoona. Those attending will have an opportunity to explore the steps for becoming a Green Community.
EPA’s Green Community program seeks to do sustainable business while nurturing local values. It is based on sustainable development and community-based environmental protection. The workshop will help communities integrate their environmental, social and economic development goals for an improved quality of life, a healthy environment and a strong local economy.
Invitees include community and economic development staff, elected and appointed officials, civic and business leaders, community planners and revitalization staff, conservationists, and any citizens who are interested in planning their community’s future.
