EPA To Announce New Cafo Rule to Better Protect Nation's Waters

(12/15/02) On Monday, December 16, EPA Administrator Christie Whitman, joined by Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman, will announce the final agency rule designed to control water pollution from the nation’s large concentrated livestock operations. The new rule for concentrated animal feeding operations, more commonly known as CAFOs, will better protect the nation’s water while protecting the viability of American farming. Prior to Whitman and Veneman’s press conference a pre-briefing will be held for reporters.
