EPA’s Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) is meeting on July 29-30, in Arlington, Va. The panel will meet at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1300 Jefferson Davis Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Among the topics to be discussed are proposed methods for basin-scale estimation of pesticide concentrations in flowing water and reservoirs for tolerance reassessment; sources of uncertainty in linear low dose extrapolation for cancer risk decisions and how they affect the precision of risk estimates; dichlorvos risk issues; mechanism for the formation of renal and forestomach tumors from chlorthalonil exposure; and a status report on the Food Quality Protection Act ten-fold safety factor. The SAP is made up of scientific experts including academia, private industry, and other government agencies and was established under provisions of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act to peer review significant scientific issues and decisions of EPA’s pesticide program. Copies on the topics presented can be obtained by calling the Pesticide Programs Docket at 703-305-5805. If you want to make an oral presentation before the SAP panel, call the Designated Federal Officer, Paul Lewis at 703-305-5369.
