Media Advisory - Bay Area elementary school gets prestigious EPA award for environmental innovation

SAN FRANCISCO – On Monday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will present one of 10 national President's Environmental Youth award to the Central Elementary School in Belmont, CA for its extensive recycling and environmental education campaign that led to the first playground made completely from recycled materials.
Last month, two students from the school -- Alexander Reid and Sarah Reid -- were among students from across the country honored at a White House ceremony for winners of the President's Environmental Youth Awards.
The award presentation ceremony will include a school assembly (300 students) with the mayor of Belmont and representatives from the offices of Congresswoman Eshoo and State Senator Jackie Speier. At 9 a.m., there will be a tour of the school playground, which is the first playground in the Bay Area constructed completely from recycled materials.

DIRECTIONS: From 101 North or South: take the Ralston Ave. exit West: after crossing the railroad underpass, take an immediate right onto El Camino. Veer over to the left; at the first stoplight (Middle Road), take a left. Go up the hill to the stop sign -- you will see the school driveway on the right.
