BOSTON - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today announced it has launched its first web page dedicated to the environmental questions and concerns of New England's small businesses.

The new web page, found at www.epa.gov/region01/smallbusiness, was developed in response to a need for easier access to environmental information expressed by small businesses and those who help them.

"I am pleased to provide the small business community with access to more extensive and helpful collection of information on how to comply with the law, how to prevent pollution and other environmental materials," said Mindy S. Lubber, Regional Administrator of EPA New England.

EPA developed the EPA New England Region First Stop Environmental Homepage to allow users to quickly locate small business environmental information under easy-to-follow categories. Each topic has links to related web sites, providing a useful tool for small business owners or those who advise them.

The web page is set up to provide easy access to information on:

    • laws and regulations, including copies of full text of laws and easy-to-understand summaries;
    • solving technical problems, with help on finding experts who may have experience dealing with similar problems;
    • preventing pollution, including information on equipment, products and services that help reduce pollution and the waste of natural resources;
    • saving time and resources through proven environmental topics, tools and techniques.
To build awareness of the web page, EPA New England is conducting an extensive small business outreach campaign.
