U.S. EPA WARNS AGAINST BURNING OR CUTTING GRAPE STAKES
Wood grape stakes are treated with chromium, copper and arsenic (CCA). Burning or cutting treated wood concentrates these hazardous chemicals in the smoke, ash and dust.
Inhaling or ingesting smoke, ash or dust from treated wood stakes can cause sudden and severe illness.
Arsenic is also a known carcinogen.
