EPA encourages the public to attend the public meetings and provide comments on the new preferred alternative for addressing public health risks from lead and arsenic found in the soil of residential yards within the Vasquez Boulevard & Interstate 70 (VB/I-70) Superfund Site. EPA will discuss the new proposed alternatives along with other alternatives it considered.
Last summer, in our initial Proposed Plan, EPA received many comments asking us to provide a new preferred cleanup alternative with lower cleanup levels. This is why we are introducing a New Proposed Plan with a new preferred alternative. The new alternative presented in the New Proposed Plan proposes removing and replacing soil in yards that have greater than 400 parts per million (ppm) lead or 70 ppm arsenic.
A 30-day public comment period is from May 28 through June 26. Verbal comment may be given at the public meetings or written comments may be sent via mail or email to:
