EPA TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING REGARDING THE WARD TRANSFORMER SITE IN RALEIGH, WAKE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold a public meeting to discuss the start of a Remedial Investigation at the Ward Transformer site in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina on Thursday, March 13, 2003. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Morrisville Commerce Center, 206 Town Hall Drive, Morrisville, North Carolina. The remedial investigation will determine the extent of the contamination and identify preliminary alternatives for cleanup. EPA officials will be available to provide information, answer questions, and address concerns regarding the site.
The site is located near the Raleigh Durham International Airport in a predominantly industrial area of Raleigh. The site encompasses an active electrical transformer building/reconditioning facility constructed in 1964 on 11 acres of previously undeveloped land. The major contaminants of concern are polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). |
