EPA Extends Comment Period on Draft TSCA Risk Evaluation for 1,3-Butadiene
Released January 31, 2025
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is extending the public comment period on the draft risk evaluation for 1,3-butadiene under the Toxic Substances Control Act, giving stakeholders more time to submit information that may inform the agency’s review of this chemical.
EPA released the draft risk evaluation in Dec. 2024. The current comment period was set to close on Feb. 3, 2025. EPA is extending the comment period an additional 30 days. Comments can be submitted to docket EPA-HQ-OPPT-2024-0425 on www.regulations.gov until March 5, 2025.
In order to give the peer reviewers on the Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals time to review any additional comments received, EPA is in the process of rescheduling the Feb. 4 virtual preparatory meeting and the Feb. 25-28 peer review meeting for the draft risk evaluation. EPA will announce the new dates for these meetings once they have been selected.
