Oil Spill Emergency Response – Dispersant Monitoring Fact Sheets
EPA developed a series of fact sheets on the monitoring requirements when dispersants are used to respond to oil spills in coastal waters under Subpart J of the National Contingency Plan. These fact sheets are intended as a tool for emergency responders that explains each dispersant monitoring requirement, describes how the data collected can inform decisions during an oil spill response, and offers insights for interpreting dispersant monitoring data.
These monitoring requirements are intended to help emergency responders better target the use of dispersants when responding to an oil spill in coastal waters, thus reducing the risks of oil discharges and response technologies to the environment.
