Lead-based Paint Activities Training Providers Course Information
Under EPA's Lead-based Paint Activities Program (abatement, inspections, and risk assessments), accredited training providers may offer training required to become certified as a lead abatement worker, inspector, risk assessor, supervisor or project designer.
This page contains information about the model training course EPA developed to provide instruction to individuals seeking lead abatement worker certification. This model course is provided for informational purposes to show training providers the required curriculum and can only be used by a currently EPA-accredited training provider. Training providers must offer courses that are consistent with the abatement regulations. For the worker discipline, the training provider may use the model training course materials as is, or may customize the materials for their particular needs.
EPA Model Worker Course: RESIDENTIAL LEAD-BASED PAINT ABATEMENT (March 2004; Revised March 2021)
The Model Worker Course: Residential Lead-Based Paint Abatement consists of three documents: the instructor manual (in PDF format), the student manual (in PDF format), and the presentation slides (in PowerPoint format), all of which are available in both English and Spanish.
The course was revised in March 2021 to reflect regulatory changes made to the dust-lead hazard standards in January 2020 and the dust-lead clearance levels in March 2021.
