Using Landfill Gas as Vehicle Fuel Webinar
On November 13, 2014, LMOP offered a webinar to LMOP stakeholders about landfill gas (LFG) energy projects that involve the conversion of LFG to vehicle fuel. The use of LFG as a vehicle fuel is becoming more common as organizations seek to cut their greenhouse gas emissions and take advantage of the availability and sale of renewable energy. In July 2014, EPA finalized the Renewable Fuel Pathways II Final Rule to identify additional fuel pathways under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) Program. Important considerations of LFG as vehicle fuel projects include understanding recent changes to the RFS Program; anticipating the barriers and challenges that can be encountered during project development; and recognizing the energy, environmental, and community benefits of such projects.
The following experts presented during the webinar:
- David Babson, AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow, EPA
- Chris Voell, Business Development Manager, Aria Energy
- Katry Martin, Executive Director, St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Disposal District
