Public Notice: Federal Draft RCRA Permit for Altivia Petrochemicals, OHD 005 108 477
Summary
Altivia Petrochemicals is a chemical production facility that produces industrial organic chemicals. The production units consist of phenol units and a Bisphenol A unit. The units contain hazardous waste associated with waste codes K022 and D001. The plant operates two stream boilers that can burn hazardous waste generated on-site for energy recovery. The boilers operate under a Clean Air Act permit.
Currently, the State of Ohio is not authorized by EPA to issue a permit for RCRA organic air emissions. Therefore, EPA has drafted a Federal RCRA Permit to address organic air emissions from hazardous waste units at Altivia Petrochemicals.
This Federal Draft Permit will allow Altivia to store, manage, and treat industrial organic hazardous waste in three hazardous waste tanks.
The facility is located in an area with a community with potential environmental justice concerns based on a 3-mile EJ Screen report.
