EPS Approval to Dispose of PCBs
In June 2023, EPA granted a non-thermal alternative disposal approval to EPS to operate two mobile chemical dechlorination units to dispose of PCBs in mineral oil dielectric fluid. This approval was issued pursuant to Section 6(e)(1) of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) section 761.60(e).
The June 2023 approval renewed EPS’s PCB disposal operation. EPA had previously issued an approval to EPS in September 2017, with subsequent modifications issued in June 2018 and June 2022.
EPS Notifications to Dispose of PCBs
As required by the 40 CFR section 761.60(e) approval, EPS must submit a notification to EPA when using its approval to destroy PCBs in mineral oil dielectric fluid.
