EPA Introduces Faster, More Tech-Friendly Process for Obtaining a Company Number
For Release: July 21, 2020
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency continues to streamline processes so that taxpayers save time and money, while protecting public health and the environment. The latest example is the process for requesting and generating new company numbers for pesticide registrations.
A company number is a unique identifier assigned to a company that wishes to register a pesticide with EPA or plans to produce pesticides or devices. Obtaining a company number is a precursor for any companies wishing to receive an establishment number, which is another unique identifier assigned for production of any pesticide, active ingredient or device
Using the Central Data Exchange (CDX), the Agency’s electronic reporting site, companies looking to register with EPA’s pesticides program will now be able to receive a company number in approximately 24 hours. Previously, this process was accomplished via email and took 3-4 business days. Now, companies can submit their request directly from the CDX, with information auto populating. This tool is accessible from a desktop, tablet or similar device – allowing for even easier access for registrants.
This effort is one of many designed to improve users’ experience with the Pesticide Submission Portal, the web-based system for electronic submission of pesticide registration applications to EPA.
