Wanda Harris Pemberton, Ph.D.
Wanda Pemberton is a Program Development Specialist within the Sector Policies and Programs Division (SPPD), a component of the Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS), and the Office of Air and Radiation (OAR). SPPD is the largest division within OAQPS-RTP and they are responsible for managing/administering the development and promulgation of rules, under the Clean Air Act (CAA).
Her current responsibilities include the coordination and facilitation of monthly calls with Regional Air Toxics Coordinators; and conducting organizational assessments. She also provides SPPD Senior Managers, Supervisors and staff with advice, guidance, briefings and presentations related to improving employee effectiveness and job satisfaction. Wanda works with multiple OAQPS senior leadership teams and contributes to succession planning efforts at the office level. She is also the current Black Employment Program Manager for the Office of Air and Radiation (OAR). In that capacity she works with managers and staff across the Agency and within OAR; reviews diversity data (trends, barriers and triggers); and makes recommendations designed to reduce biases in the workplace.
Wanda is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, at Chapel Hill, and has a B.A. in Sociology. She has an MBA in Organizational Psychology and Development, from American Intercontinental University, and a PhD in Psychology, through Walden University. Her specialization is organizational psychology and her research was focused on workplace incivility, job satisfaction, and job stress among federally employed women.
Wanda maintains memberships in a number of professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), the Organizational Development Network (ODN), and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Wanda began her EPA career in 1988 and has held positions in the Finance Office, Facilities Management Division, and the EPA-RTP Human Resources Management Division, where she served as an Employee Development Specialist and facilitated New Employee Orientation. Her presentations are motivational in nature and are based on her diverse career experiences inside and outside of the EPA.
In addition to her academic achievements, Wanda is a certified life coach, trained image consultant, published author, Dress for Success™ volunteer, and avid baker. Wanda welcomes the opportunity to help others achieve success in the areas of career planning, self-development, and self-marketing. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
