Cleaning Up, Protecting and Preserving Tribal Lands
EPA’s Office of Land and Emergency Management works with Tribal governments to protect and restore land by promoting and implementing safe waste management practices, assessing and cleaning up contaminated sites, reducing waste and preventing future contamination, and preparing for and responding to environmental emergencies. The Office of Land and Emergency Management Tribal program is committed to protecting human health and the environment in Indian country, while supporting Tribal sovereignty, acting consistently with the federal trust responsibility and strengthening the government-to-government relationship with Tribes.
