Protecting and Restoring Water Quality
Section 106 grants support state, interstate and tribal water pollution control programs. Section 106 funds can be used for water quality monitoring and assessment, water quality standards and Total Maximum Daily Load development and implementation, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permitting and enforcement, source water protection, and ground water protection.
Under section 106 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S. Code §1256), EPA provides assistance to states (including territories and the District of Columbia), interstate agencies, and eligible tribes to establish and implement ongoing water pollution control programs.
