Free webinars typically held the third Wednesday of every month from 3:00-4:00 PM (ET).
EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) hosts this monthly public webinar series to translate EPA research and share research resources and information that are useful, practical/applied and available to meet stakeholders' research needs. In addition, the EPA Tools and Resources Training Webinar Series provides in-depth overviews and step-by-step tutorials on popular EPA science-based models and tools.
NOTE: Attendees have the option of receiving a certificate of attendance. Acceptance of certificates is contingent on organization requirements—EPA cannot guarantee acceptance. Closed-captioned recordings of the webinars are provided below for later viewing and as a training resource; certificates cannot be provided for viewing webinar recordings. Fifth National Climate Assessment: Resources and Interactive Atlas
Register for the Fifth National Climate Assessment: Resources and Interactive Atlas Webinar.
Released in November 2023, the Fifth National Climate Assessment is the US Government’s preeminent report on climate change impacts, risks, and responses. Led by USGCRP and its 14 member agencies, including the US Environmental Protection Agency, NCA5 draws on the expertise of nearly 500 authors and 250 contributors from every state, as well as Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. EPA contributed to chapters on air quality, energy, forests, coasts, ecosystems, social systems and justice, economics, as well as regional and response chapters and the overview.
National Climate Assessments synthesize scientific information and evaluate the state of the science on climate change to inform a broad audience of decision-makers across the country. The report is structured in the following main categories:
- How climate change affects physical Earth systems, with a focus on the United States, including observations and projections of climate change
- Current and future risks related to climate change and what can be done to reduce those risks for a variety of societal and economic sectors of the United States
- Region-specific challenges, opportunities, and success stories for managing risks and impacts
This webinar will provide an introduction and overview of the 5th National Climate Assessment. It will walk through the major findings presented in the Overview chapter and provide a demonstration of how to navigate the online report and resources. It will also highlight some of the new features of NCA5, such as Art × Climate, which is the first art gallery to be featured in the NCA. It will guide users to resources including podcasts, recorded webinars, and Spanish translations of the NCA5 chapters. The webinar will also specifically highlight and demo the NCA Interactive Atlas, which provides access to the data compiled for NCA5 and enables users to do custom analysis and mapping.
