Assisting Regulated Entities
Delivering a robust compliance assurance program is achieved by helping companies understand their obligations under environmental laws. To assist regulated entities in compliance with environmental laws, EPA’s compliance assurance program provides technical, grant and other assistance.
EPA provides technical assistance through 16 sector-specific, web-based Compliance Assistance Centers that help businesses, local governments, and federal facilities understand their regulatory obligations and address compliance issues. The centers also link to state-specific resources.
EPA engages stakeholders through a variety of methods, including Compliance Advisories that explain EPA’s regulatory requirements to companies and the public.
Through Compliance Advisors, EPA provides customized technical assistance at no cost to small drinking water and wastewater utilities to help achieve and maintain compliance. Compliance Advisors specialize in working with EPA, state, Tribal, and local governments to help small communities evaluate compliance issues, plan for improvements, and return to and maintain compliance.
EPA also assists regulated entities in submission of compliance data through Help Desks.
