Training EPA and its Partners
To advance the protection of human health and the environment, EPA's Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA) provides comprehensive training to Federal, state, Tribal, and local environmental professionals, and manages legal and technical internship and trial advocacy programs.
The National Enforcement Training Institute (NETI) was established by the Pollution Prosecution Act of 1990, Section 204, “to train Federal, State, and local lawyers, inspectors, civil and criminal investigators, and technical experts in the enforcement of the Nation’s environmental laws.” NETI and other OECA programs provide general and media specific inspector training to such environmental professionals utilizing classroom, videoconference, field, and hybrid training to maximize the cost-effectiveness and availability of services.
NETI manages legal and technical internship programs, including the OECA Technical Student Intern and Legal Honors Clerkship Programs and EPA’s trial advocacy training program, providing experiential and classroom learning to the next generation of environmental enforcement professionals.
